Deja Vu
And so it happened again! As soon as I decided to take the plunge into start-up-dom; the DOW crashed! Oh wait, it isn’t just the DOW. Thanks to the tangled web of derivatives trading, the sub-prime collapse and Mr Greenspan’s utter disregard for any government regulation; we are all left with another bearish market – so unprecedented that Mr Greenspan called it once in a century occurrence – famous last words from the instigator himself! And he blames Wall Street’s greed now!!! Avaritia mala est.
Anyway; before I let the dribble run down my chin too far, let me explain why I said “it happened again” – coz it has happened before. Same situation before the dot-com bust. I was about to jump in and the bloody bubble burst! Situation is as bad; actually worse. What with Sequoia starting presentations to CEOs with RIPs and Benchmark echoing the sentiment. It does’nt really matter though that Sequoia raised more money then it can invest in this market.
Ah, my apologies – I digress. Well, this time I am taking the plunge. See you on the other side!
Take a listen to NPR’s this american life podcast (The giant pool of money & Another frightening show on the economy) . Pretty much sums up your frustration.
BTW, this is jumbo from Helsinki, Finland. Hope to hear more from you.
